Absolutely love the story in this. Properly scary game! Two of the biggest names in gaming right now really took off with acting outside of their norm!
Shelving to maybe finish off-stream, game stresses me out a lot D:

Sehr gelungenes Game mit realen Schauspieler mal was komplett neues
I really wish I could've loved this game but unfortunately it fell short in most aspects. It did have several very good scares and it tried something new at least.
SCORE : 4 / 5
Story: 4/5
The game is quite short, it took me only 6h to beat it, so I don't want to give away too much. The story is about two friends, Chase (Neil Newbon) and Vinny (Ben Starr) competing for the same role in an upcoming movie by famous director Duke Cain. We're experiencing the plot through Chases eyes and explore the mansion of said director. As we investigate and solve mysteries, we uncover what truly happened - all of that in a film-maker or artistic way. What really stood out to me was the acting. Some of these scenes really went under my skin! I will say that the game is not as "Horror" as I had hoped. It's more like a Puzzle Walking Sim in a Horror setting, with a few jumpscares.
Visuals: 4.5/5
The graphics looked good to me. Not mind blowing, but good. I like that they chose to use real video footage for the recordings of the auditions!
Audio: 4.5/5
The music was good and helped underline the mood of the scenes. Environmental and other SFX were good too.
Gameplay: 4/5
This is your classic Indie Puzzle Walking Sim in an Escape-Room style, in which you walk through an area, collecting information and solve puzzles to progress. I did get stuck for a bit in some parts, but usually that just meant that I had to continue exploring the house in other areas until I found the missing piece. What I really liked was the "Splaice" feature, in which you merge video footage to unlock another. Some combinations made no sense to me, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I appreciate that the whole design of the game is more minimalistic, with less clutter that takes your focus away from the important things.
Enjoyment:
I had fun with the game, I just wish it was more scary.
Difficulty:
The true difficulty lies in being patient enough to look for clues and solving the puzzles I think.
Audience:
It's not too scary or gory, so I'd say mid to older teenagers and above.
Grind:
No grind at all!
Bugs:
I didn't encounter any!
Replayability:
I don't think the story changes, but if you missed things you can play again and try to uncover more of the story and solve all the mysteries. I did get 16 out of 19 achievements on my first playthrough and now I wonder what I missed..
Have you played DEAD TAKE, and if so, how did you like it?
