GOG has this game for a few bucks and its a cheap trip down memory lane. I still had to install a mod to make it stable but after that played perfectly. The voice acting and the dark atmosphere is a perfect concoction of vampire lore and action. If you like Diablo you might wanna try this.

I've never finished this game, but now I have. Absolutely loved it! The older graphics are beautiful, the animations are silly but fluid, the storyline just starts you off on the whole saga of LoK but tells a well woven story (it's even better when you come back to this game after playing the others with the knowledge of the other things that are happening during this time period) and the soundtrack and voice acting is *chefs kiss* even if some of the musical scores are repetitive at times.

I loved it when I sucked enemies off. Literally, the best part of the game is when you use your vampire powers to wreak havoc on a town. Disguise yourself as a common human to avoid guards, turn to mist so you don't have to touch the icky water, control the weak minds of people around you, and of course, suck their blood from a distance. Music was great across the board. My favorite one is near the end, where you find yourself in a puppeteer's home. If only the game came with the soundtrack in the downloads. But that's easy enough to find online, I suppose. Weakest points for me would be the tell-tale signs that it IS an old game. I streamed this, so sometimes, I would need to tab out of the game, resulting in a guaranteed crash. This game only saves progress at specific save points, so crashing while you were nowhere near your latest save point meant retracing possibly hours' worth of exploring and secret searching. Menu navigation was atrocious. Some buttons we've gotten used to for modern or even slight older games are not applicable here. Loading a save file meant you have to go to Options. Sometimes, the B button on my Xbox controller is registered as the Confirm button, resulting in many a times for the game to close. The safest way to navigate a menu is via mouse, but when you're already on a controller while playing the game... Map navigation was also frustrating. Using the D-Pad to move from one fast travel point to another was non-intuitive at all. Up is down, left is down, right is down, down is whatever it felt like being that day. Using your mouse is no better. Hitboxes were ill-defined. A tiny fireball would be making its way to you, you quickly move out of the way, and you STILL get hit and knocked back 300 kilometers away, into another fireball. On enemies, this is also a problem. Because they have no health bar, you can't really tell if you're actually hitting them or not. They DO grunt when hit, but I swear, sometimes I don't hear it even if they do get damaged. You really have to be facing them at right angles for a guaranteed hit. Overall though, as long as you go into this game expecting its age to show, you'll be able to enjoy things that do hold up about it: the vampire abilities, the music, the pixel-graphics.
