Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a stealth-focused action-adventure game set in ninth-century Baghdad. It emphasizes parkour, infiltration, and targeted assassinations. The game follows a more compact structure than recent entries in the series. Players control Basim, a young thief drawn into a secretive order. The title blends historical settings with narrative elements tied to the franchise’s established lore. The story unfolds in a thriving Baghdad at the height of its cultural and scientific influence, where Basim, a young orphan shaped by loss, struggles to survive through street theft. Haunted by disturbing visions and driven by a need for answers, he lashes out violently, forcing him to flee the city. Taken in by the Hidden Ones, he undergoes rigorous training and adopts their code, developing his skills and sense of purpose. As he uncovers the truth about himself and the world he has joined, Basim is pushed toward a destiny that transforms both his identity and his allegiance to the emerging Creed.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage puts you in the shoes of Basim, a familiar face for those who played Valhalla. Set in the heart of 9th-century Baghdad, Mirage aims to return the franchise to its stealth roots.
Story
The story is interesting enough, following the familiar "take down the Order" formula we've seen in many previous entries. It’s serviceable, not groundbreaking but it gets the job done. Unless you’ve played Valhalla, the ending might leave you confused, as it heavily ties into events from that game and its DLCs. I had to watch an explanation video to fully understand it, and to be fair, once you do, it all connects quite well.
One standout addition to the immersion is the Arabic dub. It’s a rare sight in AAA games and honestly one of the main reasons I bought the game. For non-Arabic speakers, it’s a great touch. For Arabic speakers, however, the dialogue can feel awkward at times, as if directly translated word-for-word but still, it's a commendable effort and I'm glad it's there.
Another big highlight of Mirage is how much interesting history and culture from the Islamic Golden Age and Arabian civilization you get to experience. From the architecture and attire to historical figures and institutions like the House of Wisdom, the game offers a rich cultural backdrop that sets it apart from previous entries.
Gameplay
Mirage goes all in on stealth, which is a refreshing shift from recent entries. The dense city design of Baghdad provides plenty of opportunities for parkour and sneaky approaches. Combat, however, feels overly simplified, you get only one weapon type and barely any abilities. It’s clear that combat isn’t meant to be the main focus, and honestly, that’s fine given the game’s direction.
Graphics & Performance
Visually, Mirage is stunning. The world design and atmosphere are excellent, and Baghdad feels alive and beautifully crafted. That said, performance can be a bit rough during cutscenes and in a few crowded areas. Some cutscenes also feel a bit cheap, with occasional janky animations from AC Odyssey days.
Completion Time & Final Thoughts
It took me about 35 hours to 100% complete the game, and that’s honestly one of Mirage’s biggest strengths. It doesn’t drag on for 100+ hours like the recent titles. The quests are focused, the story doesn’t overstay its welcome, and the smaller world is a blessing in disguise.
Stealth felt a lot more rewarding than Origins

- waste of time
- promised old school AC vibes and did not deliver
- Basim has supper powers apparently
- I thought there would be implications in current timeline (there wasn't any)
- parkour was the same from any other RPG AC titles
- probably worse the AC Rouge
