Its a great gateway game for soulslikes, has all the beats of one while remaining accessible like a 3d mascot platformer should. Just don't speedrun it. Ever.
Finished the main game and it was so fun! I always thought souls-like games are not for me but that was a perfect introduction to the genre with including a story and having objectives
My first ever souls game, and likely my last lmao
I knew the reputation souls games had for being notoriously hard, but I had no idea it was THIS insane. Everything in the game feels designed to cripple the player, from the delay in attacks to the delay in healing, and the fact that the enemies have the ability to kill you in a minimum of one hit. I understand that's probably the point, but there were times it hindered my overall enjoyment of the game.
For those saying, "Well just lower the difficulty if it bothers you", I opted not to because I wanted that authentic Souls experience everyone goes through. But the option is there, so if rage is something you don't want to go through, maybe lower the difficulty 🤭
Aside from that, this game is visually stunning. I loved the undersea motif, and seeing how man-made objects intertwine with the structure of underwater life. There's a city with a "CVS" receipt to mark the path that made me crack up laughing. I also really loved the dialogue and story for being a tale about modern society, but i'll leave it at that so y'all can see for yourself. Overall, I really enjoyed this game, even if the fighting aspect of it wasn't my favorite. If I ever play another souls game, I might experiment on a lower difficulty (if present)

It is beauty, it is grace, it is a must play for any souls enthusiast. The parry/dodge windows are quite lenient which makes it a wonderful game for any who are new to souls type games. The thing that sets it apart though is the design. Throughout the whole game, trash is your weapons, your armour, the currency, the environment, it is everything - it's a political activist commentary on pollution, but done the right way. There's never a moment where a character looks through the 4th wall and says "YOU ARE POLLUTING THE PLANET" it's just the theme of the game and approached as a positive the whole time, it's only when you think about it for a moment that you realise what it is, and that's what it's supposed to be.
