Shortly after her second adventure, Through the Looking-Glass, Alice's house is burnt down by an accidental fire, killing her family and leaving her as the only survivor. As time progresses Alice loses touch with reality. She is institutionalized in Rutledge Asylum, where she is observed and treated by Dr. Heironymous Wilson. Alice's only possession in Rutledge is a stuffed rabbit. Ten years after Alice was committed to Rutledge, she finds herself sucked back into a Wonderland that has been twisted by her own broken mind. The White Rabbit summons Alice to aid a radically altered Wonderland, which became a twisted version of itself as it came under the horrible rule of the Queen of Hearts. The Cheshire Cat serves as Alice's companion throughout the game, frequently appearing to guide her with cryptic comments.

Игра прикольная, но гнусная. Прикольная потоу что ту стилек прикольный например, а гнусная потому что она кривая бля, с пьяной камерой. Мак Ги конечно тот еще дурачок и я бы не хотела еще играть в его игры, но если выпадет некст алиса, то в принципе я не против пройти её.

Played this via the xbox 360/X1 version on Hard mode, through my copy of Alice Madness Returns. Once you get pack some of this game's jank, there is a REALLY GREAT game here! The weapons and their alt fire are super interesting and have different uses throughout the game in different situations. Some of the most creative level designs I've seen and a great OST to go along! Alice's jumps can feel floaty, some bosses could use a tune-up and she wont always grab rope when climbing. If there's one major change that can be addressed, its the how Mental Health is addressed in regards to a certain character(s) in the game. I understand why it was done (at the time) but out of respect towards not vilifying or stereotyping mental health, that would be a nice change. Overall an amazing game especially with how it handles Alice's struggles with mental health and grief. This game deserves to be played or at the very least, watched through someone else's playthrough due to how this game isnt that readily available. This game is deserving of a Remake and I'm excited to get around to Madness Returns!

This game was a mostly pleasant surprise that reminded me of several games I played back in the my childhood in the days of the PS1. Its age definitely shows not just in the graphics but in the some wonky areas of gameplay. The artstyle does a lot to carry the visuals of the game though and the gameplay while not great has aged better than a lot of its contemporaries. That being said it is still an "old game" which results in some areas becoming frustrating. The story isn't really there and mostly revolves around the character of Alice being told to "go here", "do this", and repeat. Combat isn't great but can be fun when using the proper weapons. I found that the jack-in-the-box became the most useful and powerful weapon in the game until the Jabberwock Eye Staff (or something like that) was attained. The levels are interesting and designed well for the most part but, some aspects of the game design can be very frustrating especially with the platforming. Certain angles will prevent Alice from grabbing onto ledges despite still facing them and holding the movement in the proper direction. This is a staple of old video games where things need to be very precise for something to work as intended. The saving grace of this game is the ability to quick save anywhere and any time you want except when in cutscenes. Without this function I would have just opted to quit the game at the waterfall level. *shudders* Voice acting is surprisngly good for its time especially from the main players in the story. The story is moreso just there in the background with allusions to what happened to Alice since her first visit to Wonderland. The game makes it clear in the beginning that this is, at the very least, her second time there. Overall, I was excited to finally play this game a couple months after testing it for a minute just to see how it looked and played. I would definitely recommend this to players who love these types of games, especially people who love retro platformers, and would highly suggest to play it before going into its sequel, Alice: Madness Returns.
