I'd never played a Silent Hill games before. I'd heard a lot about them, both good things, especially the first four, and bad things about all the subsequent ones. For me, the series has always been less about horror and enemy combat like in Resident Evil, and more about the protagonist's psychological trauma and their attempts to overcome it. I generally liked the combat system. It's not perfect, of course, but it's hard to imagine how it could have been improved with such a small budget. This isn't The Last of Us Part Two, which had a near-perfect melee combat system. The musical score constantly keeps you on your toes, as does the radio that plays through the gamepad speaker, alerting you to the presence of nearby enemies. The enemy design is simultaneously frightening and captivating. The encounter with Pyramid Head and the nurses alone is truly remarkable; everything here is beyond praise. The locations are good at the same time, because you can compare the real world and the other world, but on the other hand, you have to run around the same locations and you want a little variety. I'd recommend this game to fans of the series and anyone who enjoys good action horror games. It's a worthy remake and a great return to the series!

A timeless classic, moderately challenging but fair to the player. The recently released Hollow Knight: Silksong didn't advance the genre very far, and while many changes have been made to the controls and usability, even after all these years, the overall concept of these games hasn't changed much. The character has several weapon options, such as spears and swords, as well as a limited amount of magic, which should preferably be used on bosses. When choosing between weapons, I played the entire game with a spear because it deals more damage to enemies. What the game lacks is probably more varied platforming during boss battles, and each death, unlike the original version, returns you to your last save in the village. How many games do you remember that had saves? They were mostly passwords that you entered into the menu to get to the desired level. I recommend it to all fans of the genre. A full-fledged adventure can captivate you for several leisurely hours of play.
